Figures, Peppers and such
"Changing Seasons" ~ SOLD
After drawing my design and collaged on my butterflies, I started adding layers of a selection of watercolor. To add more fun to the piece, I added rice paper, giving the painting a nice texture...
12”x6”. Matted to fit its natural wood 16"x11" frame.
This piece is painted on a *gesso surface to create fun texture that leads the paint into crevices adding an unpredictable flow. A plastic mesh accent is added to create more interest to this angular figure.
12.5”.x9.5”. Matted to fit its black bamboo 14"x11" frame.
"Nestled in Red"
Starting a still life theme, having an over abundance of peppers in the garden, and needing to create my 2009 Christmas cards are what led to the inspiration of this piece. Also, the introduction of oil pastels gave me great inspiration!!!
Media: watercolor oil pastel and colored pencil.
9”x12”. Matted to fit its handmade
black wooden 14"x18" frame
"Tethys" ~ SOLD
The surface is 110lb hemp watercolor paper that has an interesting velvety feel; it is acid~free and archival quality. Since it's a thinner paper (normally I would work on 140lb at the lightest), I had to experiment on how to work with it. It dries very fast, which doesn't lend itself to a workable surface. Nonetheless, I had an idea. I use a saturated absorbent pad, wet it and the paper, and from there I was able to work on it to achieve some fun effects! Once it had dried thoroughly, I added some colored pencil to enhance the image.
10”x7”. Matted to fit its natural unpainted wood 14"x11" frame.
"Touch of Lemon"
This winter (February 2015) I expanding my creativity by adding more media through an acrylic/mixed media class with Luna Lee Ray!
I am very excited of the results I'm getting. "Touch of Lemon" is my first piece~ just love the textures!!!
Media: acrylic/super gel on canvas
Painting size: 11"x14"
*Gesso: an acrylic media that is normally used on canvases to seal them before painting.
