I'd love to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself.
I grew up in Chapel Hill and Efland, NC where I spent a lot of my free time dabbling in art of one form or another or exploring the surrounding woods, being captivated by all the beauty nature brings us. Now my focus is on 2D artwork from graphite to any combination of watercolor, acrylic and mixed media that catches my inspiration at the time. Now as an artist living in Pittsboro, NC, I loves to share my artistic visions with the people around me.
When painting in watercolor, I love using mineral pigments (called granulating pigments by the artists industry). When these pigments are watered down the granules separate from the rest of the pigment to settle, creating darker specks of color and an intriguing texture. Whether using watercolor or acrylic, I love creating other textures with materials such as salt in wet pigment to achieve interesting starburst shapes, wax paper or plastic wrap, which adds another interesting fractional textured element to the media. And then gels are another fun way I like adding texture to my painting by using a variety of acrylic gels and pastes to my surface or pigment to achieve the type of textures I’m looking to create.
Just like walking in the woods or working in the garden, painting allows me to express who I am in a visual way which then can be shared with others. I can see some form of nature in every color and texture I work with!
